APPLICATION AND REMOVAL PROCEDURES (Also see www.needlenurse.com)

 

1. Inspect the NeedleNurse® Top of the Hand devise to ensure that you have the device designed for the hand (left or right) where the infusion needle is being inserted.

2. Put the device in the palm of the patient’s hand fitting it comfortably in place. The loop or coarse side of the saddle should be facing away from the skin.

3. Place the needle in any vein on top of the hand and place a piece of gauze over the area of the puncture.

4. Take the strap and place it through the area between the thumb and the first finger then over the butterfly of the needle continuing around the hand securing it to saddle in the palm.

5. Take the remaining portion of the strap and bring it around to the top of the hand over the tubing and then back to the palm securing it to the device.

The NeedleNurse® Top of the Hand needle fixation device is two separate distinct devices – one for the right hand and one for the left hand. Both devices are STERILE devices contained in a sterile package. Each device is constructed for both maximum comfort and durability. Upon removal the device should be disposed of in the clinic’s bio hazard waste disposal container. CAUTION - All NeedleNurse® devices are STERILE devices that are ONETIME use devices. CLEANING OF THE DEVICE AND MULTIPLE TREATMENT USES ARE NOT PERMITTED
